🌳 Beyond the Borough: The Look Out Discovery Centre, Bracknell Forest

This is your sign to venture beyond the borough… because this place is INCREDIBLE! 👀🌳

We’re always on the hunt for family days out that are genuinely worth the drive, and our recent trip to The Look Out Discovery Centre in Bracknell Forest completely exceeded our expectations.

If you’re based around Wimbledon, Morden, Raynes Park or Wandsworth and fancy doing something a little different during the school holidays, add this one to your list!

🔬 Science meets the great outdoors

The Look Out is the perfect combination of hands-on learning, outdoor adventure and plenty of space to let the kids burn off some energy.

Inside the Discovery Centre, you’ll find 90+ interactive science and nature exhibits designed to be explored rather than simply looked at.

Little ones can touch, build, experiment, test things out and get involved, making it a really engaging experience — especially for curious toddlers and preschoolers who want to press every button and touch absolutely EVERYTHING! 😂

And because so much of it is hands-on, it doesn’t feel like a traditional museum visit. It’s much more of a “let’s see what happens if I do THIS…” kind of place.

🌲 Then head outside…

And this is where The Look Out really comes into its own.

Once you’ve finished exploring inside, step outside into Bracknell Forest, where you’ll find woodland trails, huge open spaces and plenty of opportunities for little legs to run wild.

There’s also an amazing adventure playground, which was a definite highlight for us.

You can spend time exploring the woodland, go for a family walk, let the kids loose in the playground or simply find a spot for a picnic and enjoy being surrounded by nature.

It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend most of the day without feeling like you’ve run out of things to do.

👶 Is it suitable for toddlers?

Absolutely!

While older children will probably get even more out of some of the science exhibits, there’s plenty to keep younger children entertained too.

Our little one loved being able to get involved with the exhibits, before heading outside to explore and play.

And we particularly loved having the option to switch between indoor and outdoor activities — especially useful when you’re visiting with little ones who have approximately a five-minute attention span! 😂

💰 How much does it cost?

Admission is currently:

👩 Adults: £11.10
🧒 Children aged 3–16: £8.20
👶 Under 3s: FREE
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family ticket: £30.40

Top tip: Admission is slightly cheaper during the summer holidays, so it’s worth checking the current prices before you book.

🚗 Parking

There is plenty of parking on site:

Up to 4 hours: £4
All day: £7.90

🌳 Why we loved it

What makes The Look Out so good is that it isn’t just one activity.

You can start with science and discovery, head into the forest, explore the playground, have a picnic and enjoy some fresh air — all in the same place.

It feels like a proper day out, rather than somewhere you visit for an hour and then wonder what to do next.

And although it’s a drive from Wimbledon, we honestly thought it was more than worth the journey.

⭐️ Hello Kids Wimbledon rating: 10/10

Would we go again? Absolutely.

If you’re looking for a family day out that’s a little different this summer, save this one for your Beyond the Borough bucket list.

Because sometimes the best adventures are the ones that take you a little further from home. 🌳💚
