About this event

Event Description
Inspired by the KNIT WITS: Haus of SIBLING exhibition, Bobbin’ Around Kingston shines a light on the creativity and variety of textile crafts. Located around Kingston Museum are 15 embroidered maps produced by members of the Kingston Stitchers for a project originally displayed at Penny School Gallery in 2024. Inspired by the places they call home, they weave together the locality and heritage whilst demonstrating Kingston as a place that continues to bring people together. From Kingston and Surbiton to Teddington and Thames Ditton, they cover the borough of Kingston upon Thames and its neighbours along the River Thames and beyond.

Alongside the 15 maps are contributions from three of Kingston Libraries Knit and Natter groups: Tolworth, Old Malden and Tudor Drive. The three groups involved have produced something representative of their part of the borough whether that be a source of local pride or simply local landmarks.

Free to visit during Kingston Museum’s opening hours (Thursday-Saturday, 10:00-17:00). No booking required.
